Celery

Next typeface = celery.. going along with the vegetable range.. could do ten different vegetables.. or fruit and veg.. 

The 'g' needs to be changed, as I have realised it is a capital.. and it needs to be a small case.. otherwise they work quite well..

Tiggy Winkle

Trying to do Miss Tiggy Winkle.. in the shape of a hedgehog.. finding it quite difficult as there are a lot of letters to fit in, and to make it look spikey.. I think I need to change the actual image..

I think this works a bit better.. maybe experiment more depending on what is said at the crit..

Jemima

In the same way as Peter Rabbit illustrations, I have done a Jemima Puddle Duck illustration.. using the same type.. the first 'M' needs to be a bit more rounded..

Flows a bit better now.. I would like these illustrations to be quite muted prints.. however, I think it would be good to print a bright range and a muted range, as the bright colours would go down well with children, however, a nice muted print would be appreciated by older Beatrix Potter fans..

Peter Rabbit Illustrations

Looking at how the story can be told using the words within the characters in the story and other objects.. this could then me translated onto a puzzle and magnets, that can fit together to make up the word..

This would also look quite interesting as a poster to promote the story.. 

Experimenting with the names of the rabbits to start with, flopsy, mopsy, cotton-tail and peter.. 

I tried using a different typeface for 'cotton-tail', but I found that the rounded shapes were much more difficult to work with.. also, this is a longer word, and has much more white space with the arial rounded typeface, so may be difficult to see the rabbit shape..

Went back to using the square typeface 'kenyan coffee', as this was quite easy to use last time.. the 'L' at the end might be mistaken for a 'D'.. might need a bit more experimentation with how the letters are changed..

Changed so that the ears are down, so the 'P" works better.. keeping consistency, I have added the back ear.. 

Made the ears look like the 'M', which slightly changes it from the 'peter' rabbit.. maybe see how colours change the look of the rabbits.. will all of them be the same.. or differ?

Idea for the front cover.. too much space.. maybe make up the rabbit's body.. using simple shapes..

Carrot Typeface

Cutting up a carrot and making letters out of the pieces.. I am going to do this with 9 other different foods.. think about starter foods, main course, desert.. or types of food, such as veg, meat, sweet, savoury..

taking a look, there are a few letters that need to be changed, and I think they will then look a bit more consistent with the other letters..

f, g, t, u, y.. just a case of slightly moving a carrot piece..

Layouts..

After another meeting with the fine art yearbook team, they wanted to keep a line running under the name, and to come up with a rule for using it.. so we did some more layouts to give a better idea of what the publication might look like..

After feedback, changed the layouts.. need to get together with team to make sure the grid is properly laid out.. so all are the same..
