Utter Madness

'Wings of a dove' is on this 'utter madness' album, and so this is why I have included an illustration of a dove.. this would only really work well if it is screen printed, as the white would come out much nicer than being printed, and would also be able to keep the texture of paper etc..

Something to consider..

After talking to Steph, she suggested that I use the same colour throughout the covers.. as the illustrations are all very similar, this could look quite effective.. I am going to choose maybe 3 colours and do 3 variations.. maybe change opacity etc.. too.. 


Screen printing would be good too.. so I should look into doing this too..

Complete Madness

'Night boar to cairo' is on this album.. and a well known object from madness is the fez hat.. which is also seen in their video..

Quick idea for complete madness.. the composition needs to be played with, it doesn't look very good.. but I like the components..

The rise & fall

'Our House' is on this album.. so I wanted to try portray this on the cover.. don't think I have got it quite right at the moment.. 

Maybe show the house actually in a street.. may look a bit better.. 

Hate the colour.. needs something that will stand out.. maybe stick to the red/yellow colours..

Think the colour needs more work.. but I might be able to work it out once I know what stock I am going to use..

The idea behind this cover is 'the birds and the bees'.. this is mentioned in one of the songs.. 'must be love' which was a song that got quite high in the charts..

Colour is difficult with this one.. I really want to just keep it to one colour, but I have already used yellow.. so it will be difficult to make the bee.. as black and yellow is what it is..maybe.. maybe when doing the other covers, I may find that 3 colour is how it goes down..

OR

choose a yellow stock to print on.. then a another colour can be introduced.. 

I need to include the madness logo again, this could be the 'bee'.. and need to include the number 7, which could be in the bird's eye.. nice and subtle..

This works so much better.. the stock would be on a yellow and the added colour would be a brown that is on the bird.. the 'M' acts as the bee and the title of the song is in the birds eye.. 

this is quite abstract to the name of the album.. might be quite good to go back and do the same to the other 2 albums done already.. maybe illustrate a part of the song.. but will do this later.. KEEP GOING..

Traced a still from baggy trousers.. well known saxophone player that is flying about the video.. was re-done in the advert in the pub quite recently.. may need to look at the other positions too..

Quick idea of how the cover may look.. doesn't really show him in the sky.. different pose maybe.. keep experimenting..

Don't like the image of the sax, too simple and doesn't work.. like the idea of the title coming from the instrument though..

I cut the image of the person playing the sax in half, think this works in a similar way to the 'one step beyond...' image.. colour that stood out in that cover was red, this time I am using yellow.. again the background is grey, but this may change depending on the stock I choose to use.. but I want it to be quite a dull colour..

I think the image at a larger scale works best.. still unsure about the type.. I have hand drawn it, so it fits with the last cover.. need to look into this more.. but as I have the image done, I am going to move onto the next cover and come back to it..
